RADIATIOn-genERATING EQUIPMENT

Every facility, including physicians' offices, that proposes to receive, possess, use, store, transfer, install, service, or dispose of radioactive material or radiation -generating equipment for which registration by its handler is required shall apply to the Director of Health for registration. The application shall be accompanied by payment of the appropriate fees. Registration shall be effective for two years from the date of issuance. "Radioactive material' means any material, solid, liquid, or gas, that emits ionizing radiation spontaneously and is used for industrial, commercial, investigative, diagnostic, or therapeutic purposes. Radioactive material includes accelerator -produced and naturally occurring materials, but does not include radioactive material already licensed by any agency of the federal government." "Radiation -generating equipment' means any manufactured product or device or any machine or system that generates radiation during operation, excluding machines or systems that generate radiation from radioactive material." The Director of Health or his authorized representative shall inspect sources of radiation for which registration by its handler is required, and the sources' shielding and surroundings. ORC § 3701.92 (A)  (Amended and renumbered RC § 3748.13 in 146 v S 19. Eff 9-8-95.)

Facilities shall pay inspection fees at the time of inspection by the Director or his representative. ORC § 3701.92 (A)  (Amended and renumbered RC § 3748.13 in 146 v S 19. Eff 9-8-95.)
