Limited Branches of Medicine

The State Medical Board shall also examine and register persons desiring to practice a limited branch of medicine or surgery, and shall establish rules governing such limited practice. Such limited branches of medicine or surgery are massage and cosmetic therapy. ORC § 4731.15  (A)

Limited Branches of Medicine Previously Recognized on Ohio Law

Spondylotheraphy—the treatment of disorders of the spinal column by spinal percussion traction, vibro traction, vibration or concussion only.

Electrotheraphy—the treatment of disorders of the human body by application of electricity, but only in such quantities as does not endanger health or life.

Hydrotherapy—the treatment of disorders of the human body by application of water.

Neuropathy—the treatment of the nervous system by hand manipulation only.

Suggestive therapy—the treatment of disorders of the human body by suggestion only.

Psychotherapy—the treatment of disorders of the human body by mental impression or suggestion only.

Magnetic healing—the treatment of disorders of the human body by applied suggestion.

Swedish movements—the treatment of disorders of the human body by applied or advised exercise.
