Naprapathy

Notwithstanding the regulations specifying the types of limited branches of medicine or surgery to be examined and registered by the State Medical Board, naprapaths who received a certificate to practice from the Board prior to March 2, 1992, may continue to practice naprapathy, as defined in rules adopted by the Board.  Such naprapaths shall practice in accordance with rules adopted by the Board.  ORC §4731.151  (A)

Naprapathy is the treatment of diseased spinal connective tissue and ligaments by hand only.  A practitioner of naprapathy may not examine patients except by written and verbal inquiry, visual inspection and observation and touch.   Such practitioner shall not diagnose a patient’s condition, but may determine whether application of naprapathy is advisable.   OAC §4731-1-06
